Below is a basic outline of the Lindy series Kerry and Stuart are planning for the next 4 weeks. As we said at announcements - this course is starting from the basics and working up, but everyone wanting quality Lindy to thrive at LaB could take something from what we'll be covering. We're especially excited about the week 3 class on the kinds of music we dance to and why. Check it out and come by next week!

As usual, the 4-week course is $20 up front - covering your entrance to LaB for all 4 weeks AND 1-2 wicked awesome Sunday workshops. If you pay up front and make it to all the classes I'll bake you something delicious.

Course Outline
Week 1: Momentum as the basis of the Lindy Hop. Basic mechanics without complicated footwork. How is Lindy different from Blues?

Week 2: How to put together turns and steps to form a combination. Turns (using momentum), holds, rhythms.

Week 3: A music/listening/dancing class. What makes a song 'swing'? What makes a dance 'swing'? Why is this good for lindy? What is a 'westie' song? Demo some songs that seem good for Lindy, but really aren't. (I (Stuart) am more guilty that most on the bad lindy song DJ list, but I've seen the light and I'm trying to reform.). Clapping on the evens.

Week 4: The triple step and other common embellishments and details.

Sunday Workshop(s):
1. On the first workshop we won't be presenting different material, but rather taking the time to go further in depth about the topics presented in the Tuesday classes. More combo work, more work on the swing of the dance, being a badass.

2. The potential second workshop may take on the 'Master's Class' format that I've heard was so successful in this last series. Stay tuned.
